Alumni Cast of Rent and Actress Amanda Detmer participate in benefit for Hollywood Arts
Pacific Palisades, CA –Fancy Feet Dance Studio, a Palisades mainstay for 15 years, is organizing “Our Gift of Light,” on May 4, 2007, a benefit showcasing the talents of students at the Fancy Feet studios as well as neighboring high schools to show support for youth taking classes at Hollywood Arts. All proceeds from the event will directly support the Hollywood Arts Art and Media Center located in Hollywood and providing free art therapy and training to homeless youth.
Fancy Feet founder Emily Kay was inspired to do something for the organization after learning about their work through her friend, actress Robyn Cohen. She is organizing the performances with staff members Patty Isas, Cheri Smith, Monique Smith and Ann Miller-Clark.
"We’re so thrilled to be having our students involved in a project where they can directly make a difference in the lives of their peers,” says Kay.
Actress Amanda Detmer from the popular TV show, “What About Brian,” is one of the hosts for the benefit. “There is so much need for the arts right here in our own community. I am honored to be able to host “Our Gift of Light” benefiting the work of Hollywood Arts,” adds Detmer.
Guest appearances by a special alumni cast of the hit Broadway musical Rent will make the night even more memorable. Rent actress Cheri Smith says, “Sharing our talents with others is the first step towards sharing the power of the arts to really make a difference in people’s lives.”
“Our Gift of Light” is May 4, 2007 at 7:00 PM at Paul Revere Middle School in the Pacific Palisades. Tickets are available online at www.hollywood-arts.org.
