| Meet Staff Member and Theater Director Jeffrey Yates |
 |
|
Newest staff member Jeffrey Yates sits with board
member and KCET Life and Times' producer Vicki Curry
(and resident house interviewer!) to talk about his
love of acting, teaching and why the program at
Hollywood Arts is so unique.
Says Jeffrey: I am really excited to
join the
team of Hollywood Arts. I have a Masters degree in
Social Work from Rutgers University and I have also
performed with some amazing actors. Hollywood Arts
is a great place for me to combine both my love for
acting and for teaching youth.

| Tzedakah walking tour teaches young people about homelessness on Hollywood Boulevard |
 |
|
A group of young people, participants in
Thirteen, a coming-of-age project for Jewish
youth, gathered June 24th at Hollywood Arts to learn
about homeless youth on a Tzedakah walking tour of
Hollywood Boulevard with Dylan Kendall.
During the walk, the young people often commented
that they were surprised that the homeless youth,
looked like us. Curiosity piqued, the teens
peppered Kendall with questions throughout the tour.
Dylan explained things really well, said one
participant Erin Smith (12), I really learned a
lot.

| Street Drum Corps drums for Hollywood Arts teenagers |
 |
|
"I realize that I have been very fortunate to have
the support of my family throughout my life and that
when I needed them they were there for me. We all
need to realize that there are teenagers living on the
streets and that they do not have a family to fall
back on. Thankfully, Hollywood Arts is paying attention
to these teens for us and this is our way to help
them." Bobby Alt, drummer for
Street Drum Corps, S.T.U.N. and Faculty X.

| White & Company Insurance, Inc. ROCKS! |
 |
|
A huge thanks to Jeff Vorhees and the staff that
works with him (thanks Daren!) at White and Company
Insurance, Inc. for generously donating their
time to get us insured. We could not start our
programming with the teenagers without their help!
"I've always considered it important to
give back to the community and when I learned about
Hollywood Arts, I knew I found a great opportunity.
Their work is so dynamic and inspirational it is a
pleasure to be able to assit in anyway I can,"
Jeff Vorhees, Vice President.

Thanks to the support of the University of Toyota

Hollywood Arts is pleased to announce the begining
of its first theater and drumming classes!
Are you an actor or musician looking for the chance
to spend time with some truly phenomenal teenagers?
Come play with us!
Please note you MUST contact
staff at Hollywood Arts before attending

Volunteers who do not contact Hollywood Arts
