Hollywood Arts Leaps, Skips and Bounces into Spring!
May 2009
Dear Friend of Hollywood Arts,
Hollywood Arts springs into
spring with our new quarter, 20
new classes
and new friends!
We have tons of exciting news to tell!
New friendships with Comcast Entertainment
Group, Whole Foods, Vans and fun
projects/events with our students!
We had a great student show on April
14th. We invited some of our students
to study in
small groups with volunteers and our
teachers...the results? An incredible
performance of music and acting!
Watch the video!
Our fashion students
designed all the clothing in an incredible
fashion
shoot!

Comcast Entertainment Group gives a paid internship to a HA student!
Based in Los Angeles, Comcast Entertainment
Group operates E! Entertainment Television;
the Style Network; FearNet and G4, the gaming
network.
The people at CEG have offered a paid
internship
to a Hollywood Arts student!Quadyir
Wilson (in
our last student show) will start in May and
will work for the Style Network. Its an
incredible opportunity for our students!
A huge thanks to Whole Foods who both
generously donated dinner for our students on
Christmas and continues to donates apples,
wholesome snack bars and other goodies
monthly so our students get healthy snacks!
Whole Foods cares that our students, who
often don't get anything to eat all day
except for what we offer, have good food to
eat to keep their bodies as healthy as their
minds. Thank you!
Hollywood Arts fashion designers!
Four fashion students worked with teacher and
fashion designer Marina Tia to design and
create the fashions worn in a professional
shoot as a final project with photographer
Joshua Spencer
. The students work
was exceptional and leaded to one student
enrolling at the Fashion Institute of Design
and Merchandising! (Maria Brown is featured
in the side bar article and on She Sez)
This dress was designed by Hollywood Arts
fashion student Alex Perez- bravo!
We are proud to announce that this year we
are honoring Steve and
Cheryl Van Doren, founding family of VANS
. The
people at Vans have been tremendous
supporters of Hollywood Arts, providing our
students clothing, shoes, book bags and other
items. Our students love Vans!
Stay tuned for more information about this
exciting event October 3, 2009 held at
Raleigh Studios- an event not to be
missed!
Fashion brings new opportunities!
Hollywood Arts Board Member Linda Grasso
Koones hosted a clothing swap last week at
her home. Friends came out to take advantage
of the good deals and learn about Hollywood
Arts.
Hollywood Arts student, 25 year old Maria
Brown, (pictured above) told her
story of foster care and shelters and her
doubt that she would ever get to college.
Board Member Elizabeth Hirsch donated a
Christian LaCroix dress to Maria to
congratulate her on her journey to the
Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising!
