Think Love, Say Love, Show Love...Its Valentines day!
February 2010

Dear Friend of Hollywood Arts,

Have you thought about how to show your valentine that you care? Maybe roses, dinner or candy? On February 14th, we all think about those around us that we love...this year, how about showing someone you don't know that you care too?

Our students don't have family. They have grown up neglected and abandoned and our facing adulthood unprepared for the challenges of life. It is not homelessness or unemployment that burdens them though, it is living in a place where they believe that no one cares about them....A sense of hopelessness that comes from having to go at it alone.

This Valentines Day, show our students you care. We can't give them back their own families but we can help them find home in themselves.

Think Love, Say Love, Show Love- Donate.

Proliferation! Our music students spent months working together on the production of their first CD. They wrote all their own songs, learned to produce them and then titled and designed the graphics for the disk. Congratulations to our students....we hope you enjoy it!

Hollywood Arts thanks Jeffrey Hepker and Tremaine 'Six7' Williams for volunteering their time to help our stuents. We also want to thank Berklee College of Music for underwriting the CD.

Please write to use at info@hollywood-arts.org if you would like a CD of your own or to send us your thoughts!

If you can't see, can you learn?
    Nadia_glasses

This was a question asked by John Osborn and his wife Dr. Avani Patel. We met John at an event when he approached staff and inquired whether any of our students needed glasses to help them see not only the computers but life a little more clearly. We quickly responded that taking care of their eyes would be a huge gift and before we knew it John and Dr. Patel showed up at Hollywood Arts with a mobile eye clinic!

Of the 20 or so students they tested all but one needed glasses! John let the students chose the frames they wanted and brought them their glasses two weeks later. Our students were so happy to see better that tears of joy came to all our eyes!

A huge thank you to John Osborn and Dr. Avani Patel!

A huge thank you to AT&T for their continued support of Hollywood Arts! There are many ways to help a young person learn important computer skills. AT&T understands that using the arts to teach young people to become digitally comfortable is a smart way to educate!
